Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar has directed Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) to automate its service system to turn into a pro-people and profitable organization.

“BTCL needs to change various service systems, such as registration fee and demand note, to make it a people-friendly and profitable company,” he said while visiting BTCL headquarters and exchanging views with its officials on Thursday, reports BSS.

Giving direction to take up and implement effective work plans, Jabbar said: “BTCL officials have to work with sincerity, honesty and service-oriented mentality to make it a sustainable company.”

He ordered BTCL to take initiatives to change the demand note system, so anyone could get a connection without visiting the company’s office.

The minister further said: “Bangladesh today has attained a place among the five fastest growing global economies as per the ranking of World Bank, and it has been possible due to the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“To expedite the ongoing pace of development, Bangladesh will enter the 5G era from 2021 to 2023 with her (Sheikh Hasina) directives,” he added.

Jabbar also directed the BTCL officials to find out ways to make the land phone-based internet service popular among its customers.

Posts, Telecommunications Division Secretary Ashoke Kumar Biswas, BTCl MD Harun-Or Rashid and DMD Khan Ataur Rahman also spoke at the time.
