Update : 01 Apr 2019, 09:10 PM

Law enforcement agencies have failed to trace a local businessman who was reportedly abducted from Tangail’s Bhuapur area on March 23 by some unidentified people.

Businessman Dulal Tarani Das went missing after leaving his house in the morning to sell his bicycle in the town, said his brother Niranjan Tarani Das.

The next morning, a man telephoned Niranjan using his brother’s mobile phone and demanded a ransom. The caller also threatened to sell both of Dulal’s kidneys if the money was not paid, said Niranjan.

Later, Niranjan filed a complaint with Bhuapur police station over the matter, Sub-inspector (SI) Titu Chowdhury said.

An operation to find and rescue the missing businessman is in progress, he added.
