A college teacher who was missing for a day has been found dead in Sylhet.
Md Saiful Rahman, a 29-year-old who taught History of Islam at Sylhet Madan Mohan College went missing on Saturday. After he left home around 10am, his phone was switched off. His family contacted the police, who found his bloodied body on Sunday afternoon in Telibazar, South Surma.
Zedan Al Musa, additional deputy commissioner (Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said there were injuries on the body and throat.
He said police are investigating whether the murder was due to any previous hostilities or other reasons.
After news broke of Saiful’s death, Madan Mohan College students protested and blocked roads in the Lamabazar area. They withdrew the protest after police assured them of taking actions.
