Two suspected pirates have been killed in a reported gunfight with the members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Cox's Bazar.
The incident took place in the district’s Mognama area of Pekua upazila around 5am on Wednesday.
RAB recovered eight guns and 26 bullets from the spot.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, RAB 15 Cox's Bazar Head Office Company Major Mehedi Hasan said: "A team of ours responded to a tip-off and conducted a drive in the area.”
“Sensing our presence, the pirates opened fire and tried to escape. We fired back in self-defence,” he said. "We recovered two bodies from the area. Guns and bullets were also seized."
"The bodies have been handed over to the Pekua police station. We are trying to identify the suspects. Necessary steps will be taken upon further investigation," he added.
