Fire at Akij Group’s paper mill in Munshiganj

A fire has broken out at Afil Paper Mills, a sister concern of Akij Group, in Baluakandi area under Munshiganj’s Gazaria upazila. “The fire originated at the mill around 11am Thursday,” Gazaria police OC Hedayetul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune. “Six firefighting units from Dhaka, Comilla and Narayanganj are trying to douse the blaze,” he added. The OC could not inform the reason of the fire and extent of losses. However, the paper mill authorities have claimed that at least five of their warehouses were gutted fully.
