As many as 18 workers have been injured in an under-construction building collapse at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail.
The incident occurred around 12 am on Tuesday.
Tangail Fire Service Station Officer Mamun Mia said: “Casting work was taking place on the second floor of the 12 storey building when, suddenly, a wall from the south side started breaking, at midnight. Eighteen construction workers were crushed and injured at the time.”
In this regard, the university proctor Sirajul Islam said: “A construction company named Noorani construction got the deal to construct the 12 storey multipurpose building. The fire service officials rescued 18 injured workers from the rubble and sent them to Tangail General Hospital. Three of them received primary treatment and the remaining 15 people were admitted to the hospital. Three amongst them have been transferred to Dhaka in emergency conditions.”
