A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act

The Jessore 49 Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) battalion has detained a drug trader—along with 12kg of cannabis smuggled from India—in Benapole.

He was arrested in a drive conducted near Raghunathpur village's Pashchimpara area around 10:30am on Monday.

The detainee is Rana Hossain, 20, of the same village.

BGB said, based on a tip-off that a large amount of cannabis was being smuggled from India, Raghunathpur BGB camp members—led by the camp's Havildar Julhas Hossain—conducted a drive in the area, and detained Rana with the cannabis in his possession.

Jessore 49 BGB Battalion Acting Commander Major Nazrul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune: "A case has been filed against Rana under the Narcotics Control Act, and he has been handed over to the Benapole port police station."
