Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a drug trader with 40,000 yaba pills from a Hanif Paribahan bus in Cox's Bazar, which was on its way to the Bishwa Ijtema. The drug trader was arrested from Link Road Station in Cox's Bazar city around 8pm on Saturday.
The detainee is Sarwar Alam from Nhilla Union of Teknaf.
RAB 15 Cox's Bazar Camp Company Commander Major Mehedi Hasan told the Dhaka Tribune: "Based on a tip-off, we conducted a drive and detained Sarwar, who was trying to smuggle yaba pills by stowing them in a gas cylinder and putting it on a bus on its way towards the Ijtema grounds."
He has confessed that he was smuggling all those yaba pills to a drug ring in Dhaka. Sarwar will be handed over to police after further interrogation, the company commander added.
