An active member of the local Krishak League unit was stabbed to death by miscreants in sadar upazila of Pabna.
The incident took place at Char Shibrampur around 4:15pm on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Khairul Islam, 42, son of the late Saber Ali of Char Shibrampur village. He was a contractor and member of Hemayetpur union unit (ward 90) Krishak League.
According to local sources, the incident took place while Khairul was fising at a local water body; gang members stabbed him to death over prior disputes and their attempt to establish influence over the area.
Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Gautam Kumar Biswas said, acting on information, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy. The matter is being investigated.
