A mother of two died from a brain stroke four days after her husband, a municipality councilor, was murdered in Natore.
In Lalpur upazila's Gopalpur, local councilor Jamirul Islam was hacked to death by several people on Sunday when he was on his way to the mosque for the afternoon prayer. Although the police arrested 10 people, Jamirul's wife Asia Begum rapidly grew ill from grieving. Around Wednesday midnight, she suffered a brain stroke and was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where she was declared dead on Thursday morning.
Jamirul and Asia's two children - 13-year-old Azim and 3-year-old Bidya - are petrified by the cruel twist of fate. Their relatives are just as stunned as they ponder how to console the children.
Shahidul Islam, brother to Jamirul, said: "They have not been able to stop crying. We are worried, but we do not know what to do, what to tell them."

Asia was buried next to her husband at the Biropara graveyard on Thursday afternoon.
Locals have strongly condemned the murder and demand severe punishment for Jamirul's murderers, citing that his murder led to Asia's death, and rendered the two children orphans.
Lalpur police have confirmed that 10 people have been arrested as suspects involved in the murder of Jamirul. The suspects have been sent to jail while the investigation continues.
