Outgoing Navy chief meets PM

Admiral Nizamuddin became the 14th Chief of Naval Staff on January 27, 2016

The outgoing Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed has made a farewell call onPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence, Ganabhaban, in Dhaka.

The prime minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting, which was held on Wednesday.
 
The Prime Minister praised the Navy chief for successfully discharging his duties during his tenure.
 
The outgoing Navy head expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for extending her all-out support for him while he served as the Naval chief.
 
Admiral Nizamuddin, who assumed the command of the Bangladesh Navy, as the 14th Chief of Naval Staff, on January 27, 2016, is due to retire on January 26.
 
On January 20, Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Director General Rear Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury was appointed the new Chief of Naval Staff.

His appointment will come into effect on January 26 when he will be promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral.
