A nine-member probe committee has been formed to investigate why a trawler capsized in Munshiganj's Meghna River.
Members of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), the fire service, river police, and Bangladesh Coast Guard have also formed a search party to locate the trawler; with the help of side-scan sonar system.
The probe body, which was formed on Thursday night by the Munshiganj district administration, is headed by Additional District Magistrate Mobassherul Islam.
On Friday, he confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune that the committee had been formed.

He said: "The probe committee will start investigating right after the sunken trawler is recovered.
"Meanwhile, statements from the surviving workers have been noted. Police have been instructed to arrest the people responsible for this incident and seize the oil-carrying vessel that struck the trawler."
Previously, on Tuesday, around 3am, a trawler—carrying 34 workers from Comilla—sank in the Meghna River; after it collided with an oil-laden tanker while heading to Fatulla in Narayanganj.
Although 14 workers managed to swim ashore, the remaining 20 went missing. All the workers are residents of the Pabna and Sirajganj districts.
