One of the prime suspects in the murder of Xulhaz Mannan, and his friend Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy, has been arrested in Tongi, Gazipur.
Dhaka Metropolitan Media and Public Relation wing Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter, saying the arrest was made in the late hours of Tuesday.
On July 22, 2018, another suspect, Sheikh Abdullah—with aliases Jubair, Zayed, Zabed, and Abu Omayer—was arrested over the killings.
On April 25, 2016, Xulhaz, an LGBT activist and a local employee of USAID, and Mahbub Tonoy, a theatre activist, were hacked to death by culprits; at the former’s Kalabagan residence in Dhaka.
