Two uspected robbers have been killed in a "gunfight" in Deho Bhog area under sadar upazila of Shariatpur district.
The deceased are Rasel Hawlader, 32, son of Arsed Ali of Madaripur; and Jahangir Akon, 40, son of Sikandar Akon, of the same district.
Police said, acting on information, they conducted a drive in the area—around 2:45am on Tuesday—to arrest the robbers.
They robbers opened fire on them, once law enforcement reached the area.
They fired back in retaliation, injuring the duo.
Later, they were declared dead when taken to Sadar Upazila Health Complex.
Meanwhile, three policemen were also injured in the incident.
Palang model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir said: "The robbers were involved in a robbery case filed in 2018."
