Two suspected drug traders have been killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), at Domdomia under Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar district.

Sabbir Hossain, 25, son of Md Ibrahim Sheikh of Bagerhat district; and Hafizur Rahman, 35, son of Md Abdul Matin of Savar, were killed in the "gunfight" early on Tuesday.

RAB 7 Cox’s Bazar Company Commander Major Mehedi Hassain said they had motioned a covered van to stop at one of their check posts in the area, around 2:30am.

He said the alleged drug traders opened fire on the RAB team, prompting them to return fire. Two were injured in the incident, while another two fled the scene.

Moreover, the elite force’s team also recovered 40,000 yaba pills and two firearms.
