Export-import operations will remain suspended through Benapole-Petrapole border on Sunday for the popular Holi festival of the Hindus in India.
Unloading of goods and customs operations will remain unchanged, officials have said. Passport holders will be able to travel as well.
“The Indian authorities informed us Saturday evening that the Petrapole users would suspend activities tomorrow for the Holi festival,” Revenue Officer of the cargo section of Benapole Checkpost Customs Abdus Samad told the Dhaka Tribune.
Holi – a two-day celebration of youth, fertility, playfulness, vigour and the triumph of good over evil – takes place on the last full moon of Falgun.
This year the colourful event will be observed widely in India, Nepal, and some parts of Bangladesh on Monday and Tuesday.
