Ten Rohingyas, including women, have rescued by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 7 while they were being prepared to be illegally trafficked to Malaysia by sea from Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
They were found at the house of a man named Abdur Rahman in the Majerpara area of Shahporir Dwip under Teknaf in the early hours of Friday.
RAB also detained one Abdur Rahman for suspected involvement in the trafficking.
The Rohingyas are: Ziaur Rahman, 30, Jaber Alam, 35, Rashid Ullah, 30, Nurul Alam, 28, Rojina, 25, Jannat Ara, 27, Julekha Begum, 20, Mosaddeka, 25, Setera Begum, 22, and Sadika, 20.
Among them, five are from Kutupalong, three from Thaingkhali, one from Jadimora and one from Muchni Rohingya camps. All were preparing to depart for Malaysia illegally.
RAB 7 CPC 2 Teknaf camp Company Commander Lieutenant Mirza Shahed Mahtab said: “Based on a tip-off, we conducted a drive after finding out some Rohingyas had been trying to illegally leave for Malaysia from Teknaf's Shahporir Dwip through seaways.”
"At that time, we detained the owner of the house as a suspect for his involvement regarding the trafficking," he said.
A case has been filed with Teknaf police station regarding the issue, he added.
