‘Drug trader’ killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

The incident occurred early on Sunday

A suspected drug trader has been killed in a reported gunfight between two groups at Dakhshin Lengurbil adjacent to the Bay of Bengal in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila.

The incident occurred early on Sunday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Farid Alam, 30.

On information about a gunfight between two groups of yaba traders, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 4am, said Teknaf model police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradip Kumar Das.

Sensing police presence, the drug traders fled the scene.

Later, police recovered Farid’s body, two locally-made arms and 10,000 pieces of yaba tablets from the spot, the OC added.
