A suspected drug trader has been killed in a reported gunfight with police on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf road; at Damdamia check-post in Teknaf upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Lal Mia, reports UNB.
Police recovered two guns, two bullets, and 6,000 yaba pills from the site.
Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf police station Pradip Kumar Das confirmed the incident. He said that after receiving a tip-off about two groups of drug traders engaging in a gunfight over splitting profits, a team of police conducted a drive in the area.
Upon seeing law enforcement the criminals opened fire. This forced them to return fire in self-defence and later the deceased’s body was found at the scene.
