Petrol bomb attack in Bogra, minutes after August 21 verdict

Minutes after the August 21 grenade attack case’s verdict was delivered, a bus was petrol-bombed in Bogra.

The incident occurred in Shajahanpur upazila around 1pm on Wednesday.

Police have detained Jubo Dal Assistant Agriculture Affairs Secretary Nur Mohammad, 30, in relation to this attack.

Two female passengers – Munira Begum, 40, and Anjuwara Begum, 50 – were injured in the incident and been provided with treatment in local hospitals.

According to police and locals, when the Dhaka-bound bus of Nabil Paribahan stopped near a TMSS pump on Dhaka-Bogra Highway, miscreants threw sticks, and then hurled a petrol bomb, at the bus.

Munira and Anjuwara were injured when the bus seats caught fire. The driver, Aslam, and workers, immediately extinguished the fire. 

A passenger of the bus Amina Khatun, 27, said: "The driver stopped the bus when the miscreants threw the bomb and then vandalised the bus. I escaped through the window, with my child, when the seat in front of me caught fire."

Bogra's Additional Superintendent of Police (sadar circle and media) Sonaton Chakrabarty confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
