Three children, including two siblings, have died as a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra river in Narsingdi’s Belabo upazila.
The deceased are identified as Nila Akhtar, 16, Samiya Akhtar, 8, and her brother Tamim Mia, 6.
The boat capsized when the trio went on a river cruise with their relatives on Saturday, Belabo police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jabed Mahmud said.
Five people managed to swim ashore but the three children drowned, he said.
Locals rescued the children and rushed them to Bhairab Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead, the OC added.
