Customs officials seized 208kg contraband Ethiopian cannabis, also known as 'khat,' at the port city.
Two consignments of the drug were seized on September 6, said Customs Commissioner Dr AKM Nuruzzaman at a press briefing at the Chittagong Customs house on Thursday, reports UNB.
The consignments, labelled as green tea, arrived via post from Ethiopia.

From a Dhaka post office, a consignment of 13 cartons of 'khat,' weighing 160kg was sent to Chittagong to the address of Md Iftekhar Hossain, house no-23, road-1, lane-4, New A Block Halishahar—and another consignment of 10 cartons weighing 48kg to Arif Enterprise, Shantidhara residential area, Shanti Company, Feni Sadar, Feni, he said.
Based on inside information, a team of customs officials raided the Foreign Exchange Branch of the Bangladesh Post Office, in the port city, and seized the contraband drug.
After an investigation, it was discovered that the items were not green tea but ‘khat’.
