A madrasa principal's wife and student have been slaughtered in Gazipur.
The incident took place at Huffazul Quran Madrasa, in Gazipur City Corporation's Chandna area, in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased are Mahmuda Akhtar, 25, the wife of Madrasa Principal Ibrahim Khalil Talukdar; and student Mamun, 7, son of Mohammad Abu Saeed from Rasulpur area —of Mymensingh's Gafargaon upazila.
According to locals, the students and teachers of the madrasa went to conduct their Fajr namaz prayers in an adjacent mosque in the early hours of Tuesday. Returning to the madrasa after the prayer, they found the bodies of the two— with their throats slit.
Upon seeing the bodies, they shouted and informed the police.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner YM Belalur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune: "We are investigating the incident while considering some of the matters. We will be able to solve the mystery regarding the matter soon."
