Some miscreants have allegedly shaved the head of a woman, wife of a person in Qatar, when they failed to rape her in Tangail.
The incident took place in Ichail village of Mirzapur upazila.
Mirzapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC), AKM Mizanul Haque, confirmed the matter on Monday afternoon.
Police has arrested two people in connection with this incident. The wife of the person in Qatar has filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against them.
The arrested are Shariful Islam, 28, son of Shamsul Islam from Ichail village, and Shafiqul Islam, 23, son of Billal Mia.
The OC told the Dhaka Tribune: "We have filed a case after receiving a complaint that an expatriate's wife's head was shaved following an attempted rape."
He said, on information, police raided the Mirzapur area and arrested two of the miscreants in the early hours of Saturday.
They were then sent to court on Sunday with a seven-day remand appeal. But the court approved a one day remand for the arrested on Monday afternoon.
"We are still investigating the matter," the OC said.
According to the case documents, the miscreants in the area bothered the wife of the Bangladeshi expatriate in Qatar every day, on her daily commute to and from her five-year-old daughter's school.
On September 9, the miscreants entered her room as she was preparing to to sleep at around 11 pm with her daughter.
They tried to rape the wife and mother,holding a knife to her daughter's throat. When she started screaming, they threatened to kill the daughter.
When the rapists failed to rape her, they tied the mother up and shaved her head with an electric razor.
Later, the housewife filed a case with Mirzapur police station on September 15 against the attackers.
Police said they will continue to look for the remaining culprits.
