A suspected outlaw has been killed in an apparent gunfight with police in Rajbari district.
The deceased- Abdul Matin, 35, an alleged member of the outlawed party, was killed in the 'gunfight' which took place in Alamdanga area of Kalukhali upazila early Saturday.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalukhali Police Station Amirul Islam confirmed the matter to UNB saying: "We found that the outlaws were holding a secret meeting based on a tip-off. A team of police conducted a raid in the area around 1:30am."
He also said that that the gang of outlaws openly shot at them when the law enforcers arrived, forcing them to strike back. This sparked the shootout, leaving Abdul dead on spot.
Police found one shooter gun, 2 cartridges, several bullet shells and sharp weapons from the scene, the OC added.
