An 85-year-old was killed in a hit-and-run accident in the Basail upazila in Tangail on Sunday morning.
The deceased Barek Mia hailed from the Barni village of Dubail union in the Delduar upazila.
Sub-Inspector of the Gorai highway police Md Samad told the Dhaka Tribune that Barek was crossing the Dhaka-Tangail Highway near Baoikhola area when a bus ran him over and escaped.
Severely injured, Barek was admitted to the Tangail General Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
