A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight with law-enforcement near Kochamari bridge in Gabtoli upazila of Bogra on Thursday morning.
The deceased was Khairul Islam,28, son of Abdul Khaleque of Jaiguli village in the upazila.
Khairul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Gabtoli police station said, on a tip-off, a police team raided the bridge area while Khairul and his associates were trying to commit robbery by placing logs on the Sukhanpur-Syed Ahmed College road around 3am.
Sensing the presence of law-enforcement the robbers opened fire on the police, forcing them to retaliate.
After the gunfight, Bashar claimed, they found bullet-hit Khairul and rushed him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) where on-duty doctors of the emergency department declared him dead around 6.20am.
The cops claimed seizure of a dagger, a samurai, bullets and a knife from the spot.
Khairul was wanted in three cases including robbery and attack on police, said the OC.
