4 children among 7 killed in Narsingdi road crash

Eight others were injured in the accident

At least seven people, including four children, were killed in a head-on collision between a bridal party microbus and a bus in the Sonamurir Tek area in the Shibpur upazila Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Prantika Rani Barman, 6, Snigdha Rani Barman, 5, Bristi Rani Barman, 7, Sawrup Barman, 12, Sujon Barman, 35, Shuvo Barman, 30, from the Satnal village in the Matlab upazila, Chadpur district, reports UNB.

The one deceased that could not be identified was cameraman Sajal, 25.

“The Chandpur-bound microbus from Sylhet collided with the Sylhet-bound bus of 'Mitali Paribahan' around 7:30am, leaving three passengers of the microbus dead on the spot and eight others injured,” said Abul Kalam Azad, OC of Shibpur police station.

The injured were taken to the Narsingdi General Hospital where doctors referred four of them to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Among the injured, one died at the Narsingdi hospital while another succumbed to his injuries on the way to the DMCH.

Two more injured died at the DMCH in the afternoon while undergoing treatment.

The tragedy struck the bridal party members when they were returning home from a marriage ceremony in Sylhet.
