The owner of SP Golden Line Paribahan has been arrested in Satkhira by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
A RAB 3 team arrested Junayed Hosssin Laskar alias Baharun Laskar, 46, from the district’s Laskarpara on Saturday, according to a press release from RAB issued on Sunday.
He was arrested in a case filed over the death of a motorcyclist under the wheels of a mini bus of Golden Line Paribahan at Moghbazar’s Wireless area in Dhaka’s on Friday, amidst a nationwide movement of students demanding safer roads.
The bus was then torched by angry locals, who also detained and handed over to police the driver of the bus, Md Imran Hossain, 25.
The deceased motorcyclist was identified as Saiful Islam Rana, 23, from Barisal’s Banaripara. He used to work as a senior nurse at privately-run Dhaka Community Medical College and Hospital, and lived at Khilgaon’s Goran.
Later that day, Rana’s father Shahjahan Ali had filed the case at Ramna police station against Imran, Junayed and three.
Junayed was sent to RAB-3 office in Dhaka from where he was taken to the court.
