Four suspects have been detained over the murder of Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS-MN Larma faction) leader Suren Bikash Chakma in Rangamati.
The detainees, nabbed during Monday’s day-long raids, are: Doyel Lal Chakma, 36; Arun Chakma, 30; Unnati Chakma, 18; and Pelen Chakma, 20 — all hailing from Baghaichhari Upazila.
Suren, 45, was shot dead at his home on Sunday night in Baghaichhari’s Rupkari Union by unidentified attackers.
His party accuses the United People’s Democratic Front (Prosit Khisha faction) of the murder.
Suren’s wife, Bashonti Chakma, has filed a case, said the local police station in-charge Amir Hossain.
“We are continuing our raids to catch the perpetrators,” he added.
