Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the officials of various departments to work with utmost sincerity to properly implement the Annual Development Programs (ADP).
She gave the directives at a meeting with district government officials at Thakurgaon Circuit House on Thursday.
Sheikh Hasina said the goal of the government is development of the country and its people, and proper implementation of the ADP is very important to this end.
Pointing out the government's decision for establishing economic zones in the districts, the Prime Minister said it would create immense job opportunities for the youth as well as establish industries based on locally-produced goods.
She reiterated her call to create awareness against militancy, terrorism and drug addiction and involve cross-section of people, including guardians, teachers and religious leaders in the campaign against the menaces.
Hasina also urged the officials to create sports opportunities for children and juveniles to help develop their physical and mental health.
The government has taken steps to construct at least a mini stadium in every upazila to facilitate the youth to pursue sports and cultural activities, she said.
She also asked the officials to find out the homeless people in the district and bring them under the government's housing scheme, and said no people in the country would live in slum as everybody would get a house.
Deputy Commissioner Md Akhteruzzaman made a presentation on history, heritage, resources and prospects of the district. Officials of various departments informed the Prime Minister of the progress of the implementation of the projects.
