Seven women of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh from Langadu Upazila Muslim block have been detained by the police on suspicion of plotting acts of terror.
Acting on a tip off, the police arrested them while they were having a meeting on Monday morning. A large number of books and leaflets on radicalization was confiscated from the location.
According to local people and police, the seven women were secretly meeting in the house of Osman Gani, a teacher of Rabeta Muslim High School.
Of the seven, one has been identified as Fatema Akhter Munni, a physical training teacher at Rabeta Muslim High School. The names of the six other women have not been released as yet.
Confirming the news, Ranjan Kumar Shamonto, OC of Langadu police station, said: “Seven members of Islami Chhatri Sangstha and Jamaat-e-Islami have been arrested from a secret meeting.”
When asked, the OC did not give their names. The women were being kept at the police station at the time of filing this report.
