Headmaster held for sexually harassing fifth grader

The Headmaster of a primary school has been arrested on charge of sexually harassing a class five student in Agailjhara area of Barisal district. The arrestee is Shyam Prasad Dhali, headmaster of Nagarbari Government Primary School. Agailjhara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rajjak Molla said the victim's mother filed a case against Shyam on Friday. After the case was filed, police arrested the headmaster and produced him before the court on Saturday. He was later sent to jail. The OC said Shyam was the tutor of the fifth grader. On March 8, Shyam asked all other students to leave after the tuition class ended and sexually harassed the child. Later, she went home and informed her mother about the incident. Moreover, the girl also stopped going to school after the incident. Victim's mother said she informed the school’s managing committee about the incident but they did nothing to resolve the matter.
