A police sub-inspector and two other officials were arrested on Friday over a youth being killed in Chittagong’s Sitakunda by bullets during a clash with police.
Sitakunda police station Officer-in-Charge Iftekhar Hassan told the Bangla Tribune that the three men were arrested in the afternoon.
The arrestees are SI Nazmul Huda, Constable Abul Kashem and Ansar member Ismail Hossain. On Thursday they were closed to the police lines.
“The brother of Saiful Islam, the youth who was killed by police firing, filed a murder case at the station today,” OC Iftekhar said.
“Afterwards we arrested SI Nazmul Huda, Constable Abul Kashem and Ansar member Ismail Hossain.”
On the night of January 24, the three men allegedly got into a clash with villagers in Telipara, under Bhatiari union in Sitakunda.
Saiful Islam, 16, was killed when the officials fired shots. Two others, Kabir Ahmed Bhola, 55, and Imran Ali Joy, 19, got wounded by bullets.
Bhatiari UP Chairman Md Nazimuddin said the three officials were on petrol in Telipara on that night and were not wearing their uniforms. They wanted to detain three men who were hanging out, resulting in a scuffle with several villagers.This article was first published on banglatribune.com
