A fraudster has been arrested in Gazipur when trying to acquire unused public land (khas jomi) claiming that he was the personal driver of the Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy. Abdul Aziz, the arrestee, had forged documents using fake signatures of the deputy secretary (land), Gazipur revenue deputy collector (RDC) and other authorities. Gazipur district administration handed him over to Joydebpur police on Wednesday afternoon, Gazipur Land Acquisition Officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune. A case has been filed against him for forgery and deception. Aziz went to the revenue office around 4pm and introduced himself as the personal driver of Joy. Later, he produced fake documents and tried to put pressure on the officers to hand over the land. The revenue officers became suspicious and took him to RDC Abdul Bhuiyan. After scrutinizing Aziz's papers, the officials confirmed that they were forged. The fraudster was then apprehended and handed over to police.
