Update : 08 Jan 2018, 11:37 AM
Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River has resumed after two and a half hours of disruption caused by dense fog. Mohiuddin Russell, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha ghat, said they kept suspended ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route from 5:30am to 8am on Monday due to blurred visibility caused by dense fog. Three ferries remained motionless in the middle of the river while 13 more remained anchored at Paturia and Daulatdia ghats. About 300 hundred vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, remained stranded at both ghats. Passengers suffered most as number of vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing amid cold weather. Later, ferry services resumed around 8am as fog disappeared, said the BIWTC official.
