Indian beggar caught for illegal entry sued after 28 days

An Indian beggar who was caught for illegal entry in Bangladesh has been sued after living in custody for 28 days in Bogra's Sherpur police station. On November 29, while begging in Shubli village, people suspected Ram Singh, 60, of being a Rohingya and took him to the police station. Sherpur police station Sub-Inspector Putul Mohant filed a case against Ram Singh for illegal entry.

The OC (investigation) Bulbul Islam said the Indian High Commission had wanted him back, but being unable to identify him they refused to take him back. So, he was kept at the police station. SI Putul Mohant said Ram is the son of Bhuddha Singh, a resident of Gaurabpur area of Bihar. His mother's name is Mongloo Singh. He crossed the border unknowingly and entered Dhurang of Sherpur in Bogra while begging. On Thursday, Ram Singh will be sent to Bogra jail.
