A beggar from India has been held in Bogra’s Sherpur police station since November 29.
Ram Singh, 60, hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Bihar.
It has not been confirmed when he entered Bangladesh territory.
Sherpur police station Sub-Inspector Putul Mahanta confirmed the matter.
According to SI Putul, Ram Singh crossed into Bangladesh territory late November while begging. Local people suspected him of being a Rohingya and handed him over to the police when he was begging near Shubli village in Bogra’s Sherpur.
A translator has been assigned to communicate with him.
Meanwhile, talks are underway with Indian High Commission to send him back to India.
