Mob desecrates Hindu idol after police foil religious discussion

A disorderly mob have run rampage on a temple and a restaurant at a Hindu neighbourhood after police abruptly stopped a tafsir mahfil (Islamic discussion) they were attending in College Para area of Alamdanga town, Chuadanga. Witnesses said an agitated mob returning from the Islamc discussion at College Para intersection desecrates an idol of goddess Kali and some implements of Shri Shri Satyanarayan temple at Chartola intersection on Thursday night. They also ransacked Haran Hotel, some street lamps and a close-circuit camera adjacent to the temple before leaving the spot. Earlier around 10pm, a team of Alamdanga police intercepted the discussion midway. Alamdanga police station Officer-in-Charge Lutful Kabir said they would investigate the matter.
