At least three houses and one shop, belonging to the Jubo League members accused of killing Chhatra League activist Sakir Gomosta, were ransacked by agitated students and Chhatra League members on Thursday.
Meanwhile, after the completion of the autopsy at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sakir’s body was taken to his home town and buried at his family graveyard on Wednesday night.
Police and witnesses said Chhatra League activists and students of Palordi Model School and College, where Sakir was a student, gathered at the campus and demanded the immediate arrest of his killers on Thursday morning.
During the rally, Jubo League activist Shakil Mridha was beaten by the agitated students.
Subsequently, the protesters rushed to the homes of accused attackers Ilias Gomosta, Mojibor Gomosta and Sohel Gomosta, as well as Sumon Gomosta’s shop, where they carried out acts of vandalism, even attempting to set fire to the properties until police arrived and brought the situation under control.

Gournadi police station Officer-in-Charge Manirul Islam said drives to arrest Sakir’s killers were ongoing and additional police had been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.
A case regarding the incidents of vandalism was yet to be filed.
Sakir Gomosta, 17, an HSC student of Palordi Model School and College and son of Aiub Ali Gomosta from Ashukathi of Gouranadi municipal area, succumbed to his injuries on early Wednesday, after he was beaten reportedly by activists of Jubo League for taking a stand against eve teasing and drug addiction on Tuesday afternoon.
Aleya Begum, mother of the victim, lodged a murder case in this connection against 12 people, naming six of them.
However, no one had been arrested at the time of filing this report.
