Youth killed in yet another case of savagery

Update : 30 Sep 2017, 02:43 PM
In a repeated act of savagery, a teenage ceramic factory worker has been killed as his colleague allegedly pumped air into his body through the rectum in Bogra. The deceased is Russel Miah, 19, a worker of ABC Tiles Factory in Kahalu upazila of the district. Meanwhile, police detained the accused, Rubel Hossain, in this connection. The factory authorities said Rubel pumped air into Rubel's body using an air blower at their workplace on Friday. They, however, could not clarify the reason behind the incident. Noticing the matter, other workers at the scene rushed Russel to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hopsital (SZMCH) where he was declared dead. SZMCH Deputy Director Nirmalendu Chowdhury said: “Rusel was brought to us with severe injuries. The on-duty doctors could not really do much for him as his intestines already ruptured by then.” The victim's body was later sent to the SZMCH morgue for an autopsy. Bangladesh has been witnessing an upward trend of such brutal killings since August 2015, when a 13-year-old boy named Rakib was murdered by his employer for leaving his job at a garage in Khulna. On July 25 last year, a 10-year-old boy was brutally killed by pumping air into his body in Narayanganj’s Rupganj upazila. A teenage boy in the district's Sonargaon upazila was killed on December 14 the same year. Fourteen days later, another youth was hospitalised as air was pumped through his in Narayanganj's Araihajar upazila.
