Seven Hindu establishments torched in Faridpur

A group of unidentified miscreants set fire on seven Hindu establishments in two union parishads of Madhukhali upazila in Faridpur on early Saturday. According to police sources, the miscreants set fire on a cowshed, porch of a house and piles of junket. The incident took place at Goriadoho, Nischintopur, Laxmipur and Bhellakandhi villages of Dumain union and Paschim Arpara village of Arpara union. Police said the miscreants torched the establishments near the Puja mandaps of the local Hindu community. Madhukhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Lutfunnahar said the unidentified criminals set fire to those establishments to create panic ahead of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindus. Shafikur Islam, officer-in-charge of Madhukhali police station, said police have beefed up security in the upazila.
