State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said the government would not allow militant activities in the country that can lead to attacks in the neighbouring country India.
He made the statement to reporters at the zero point of Banglabandha Land Port under Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh after visiting Fulbari BSF (Border Security Force) Camp in India.
The State Minister said: “We are always against terrorism. We will not allow anyone to use our land for conducting militant or terrorist activities, neither against our country or our neighbouring country India.”
When asked about the blast in West Bengal on October 2, he said India had not yet officially informed Bangladesh about nationality of the two persons killed in the blasts that occurred in Bardhaman district of West Bengal.
The State Minister said discussions were held on the common border issues with the high ranking Border Guard Bangladesh and BSF officials during his visit to the camp.
He said the BSF officials had assured him of not using deadly weapons on borders.
“Bangladesh and India have excellent friendly relations, BGB and BSF have been resolving border issues through flag meetings whenever needed,” he said.
Asad told the reporters that talks were continuing at the government levels with India and Nepal for starting immigration facilities through the Banglabandha Land Port as soon as possible.
Shiliguri BSF Sector Deputy Inspector General Shree Akhil Dixit welcomed the Bangladeshi State Minister after he arrived to visit Fulbari BSF Camp through Banglabandha Land Port.
Panchagarh 2 constituency MP Nurul Islam Shujan and former Awami League lawmaker from Panchagarh 1 constituency Mozaharul Haque Pradhan accompanied him.
