It seems that law and order situation of the country has drastically deteriorated as eight people were murdered in several incidents in Chuadanga, Chapainawabganj, Cox’s Bazar, Sathkhira, Jamalpur and Moulvibazar districts yesterday.
In Chuadanga, two people were murdered in Alamdanga and Damurhuda upazilas.
Sources said a farmer had been beaten to death allegedly by his nephews over a land dispute at Hardi village in Alamdanga upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Shafi Uddin,38, son of Harez Uddin.
Police and locals said the incident had taken place as some nephews of Shafi Uddin went to his house at about 9:30pm to take inherited land into their possession.
At one stage, some of nephews of Shafi beat him indiscriminately, leaving him injured.
Shafi died on the way to hospital.
In Damurhuda, police recovered the body of a lathe operator in Gobindahuda village of the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Samad, 35, a resident of Durgapur village in the upazila.
Police said local people found the body of Samad behind an Eidgah of Gobindahuda village around 9:00am and informed the police.
Later, law enforces recovered the body that bore several marks of stab injuries and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police suspected that miscreants killed the man over previous enmity and dumped the body there.
In Chapainawabganj, the body of a woman was found in Gomastapur.
The deceased was identified as Lalmon.
Family sources said she was mentally disabled and killed herself hanging from ceiling with rope in the evening. None was detained in this connection.
In Jhenaidah, a farmer in bordering Moheshpur upazila under the district was hacked to death by unknown miscreants.
The deceased was identified as Amir Haque, 45, son of Tazim Uddin f Uzzalpur village.
Mheshpur police station Officer-in-Charge M Shahjahan Ali said Amir had left his house in the morning and did not return home.
Later, the villagers found the body lying near a pond in the area.
On information, police recovered the body.
The police suspected that previous enmity might have led to the murder.
A case was filed with Moheshpur police station in this connection.
The body was sent to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue.
In Moulvibazar, a young girl was found dead in Sreemangal upazila.
The deceased was identified as Seema Akhter Mukta, 22, daughter of Mosharaf Hussain of Sindurkhan area of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, Seema went to her bed in the afternoon closing the door. Later the family members found her body hanging from the ceiling fan.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Moulvibazar 250-bed Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Md Abdul Jalil, Officer-in-Charge of Sreemangal police station confirmed the incident.
In Cox’s Bazar, a man was murdered in Lalpara area in the district over land dispute.
The deceased was identified as Sayed Karim, son of Karim Munshi in the area.
According to sources, there had been a long standing conflict between Karim and his neighbour Ahsun Ullah over land dispute.
On the day, Ahsun Ullah beat up Karim, leaving him dead on the spot.
In Satkhira, a woman and her daughter were found dead at Uttar Eksora village in Ashashuni upazila.
The deceased were identified as Parveen Akhter,24, wife of Belal Gazi of the village, and their daughter Rupa Khatun,4.
Locals said Belal Gazi, son of Deen Ali of Uttar Eksora village, married Parveen Akhter of Nalian village in Dakope upazila of Khulna district four years back hiding the matter of his first marriage.
Belal along with his first wife Johirunnesa began to live at a rented house in Satkhira district town deserting Parveen after one year of the second marriage.
When Parveen went to his husband Belal for money to buy food for her child on Monday, Belal beat her up.
Later, they were found her dead in their room.
Officer-in-Charge of Ashashuni police station Ahsan Habib confirming the incident said the woman might have committed suicide along with her child as they were suffering from chronic hunger.
