Update : 18 May 2013, 05:41 AM

The Border Security Force (BSF) of India continues to construct barbed wire fencing within 50 to 60 metres of international pillars in breach of border laws.

In the early hours of yesterday, the BSF erected 150 metres of barbed wire fencing on the zero line between international pillars number 934 and number 935 along the Kholishakotal border.

The Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) protested against the incident and sent a letter to its counterparts. A flag meeting was held between the border guards yesterday.

The meeting was held at the area near 934/11 S international pillar. Subedar Shahiduzzaman, Shimulbari company commander of 45 BGB battalion, led the BGB side while Inspector Deshraj of Boshkotal camp from 124 BSF battalion led the other.

In the 40-minute long meeting, the BSF delegation assured BGB of removing the barbed wire fencing.

Tension is prevailing in the area as BGB has stepped up its patrols on the border.
