The 33rd prosecution witness gave deposition against BNP leader and war crime suspect Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Monday morning.
Following the deposition, witness Mahmud Ali was cross-examined by Salahuddin’s counsel Ahsaul Huq.
ICT 1 then adjourned the proceedings of the case for the day and set May 13 for further hearing.
The three-judge tribunal, set up to try crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War, indicted the BNP lawmaker from Chittagong on 23 charges.
He was accused, in particular, of masterminding the 1971 killing of Nutan Chandra Singha, a reputed philanthropist and industrialist from the port city.
Salauddin is said to have encouraged the Pakistani army to kill Nutan Chandra, even though they preferred to spare him.
