A Dhaka court today placed Sohel Rana, the owner of a Savar building that collapsed Wednesday killing at least 381 people, under a 15-day police remand in two cases.
Along with Rana, the court also awarded Anisur Rahman, owner of Ether Tex Ltd, 13-day police remand in two cases and Anil Das and Shah Alam Mithu, Rana’s accomplices who had been helping Rana to flee the country, into five-day remand each in the same cases.
Earlier in the day, Detective Branch (DB) of Police produced Rana, Anisur, Anil, and Mithu before the court of Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Wasim Sheikh.
DB inspector Shahin Shah, also the investigation officer of the case, sought for 20-day remand against Sohel in two cases, 10-day remand against Anisur and five-day each for Anil and Mithu.
