The Facebook authorities have appointed a lawyer to file a lawsuit against “facebook.com.bd” with a lower court in Bangladesh next week, to seek a compensation of $50,000.
Facebook, one of the largest and most popular social media platforms in the world, has sent multiple legal notices to stop the domain from using the same name in Bangladesh.
A1 Software Limited, a Bangladeshi company, opened a new domain using the same name of Facebook, which is illegal, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Moksadul Islam told Dhaka Tribune.
Moreover, they want to sell this domain at $6 million. The company did not respond to the multiple legal notices sent by Facebook earlier, so the Facebook authorities are going to take legal action now, he added.
“We will file the case on Sunday or Monday to seek compensation,” said the lawyer.
