Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the Road Transport Act 2018 will be examined for amendment, and loopholes will be solved after discussion.
Urging the transport owners and workers to withdraw the blockade, Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said: "The Road Transport Act 2018 will be examined for amendment in order to look for any kind of inconsistency in the law."
He made the statement in a meeting arranged by cultural sub-committee of the Awami League National Council preparation committee, held at the party president's political office in Dhanmondi on Thursday.
“The main motto of this law is to bring discipline on the roads. Excessive attempts will not be taken to implement the law, he said.
Bangladesh Truck-covered-van Goods Transport Owner-Worker Unity Council called a nationwide transport strike on Tuesday following the implementation of the Road Transport Act 2018.
Saying that only Awami League practices democracy in a party, Quader said, “BNP, failing to wage any visible movement to free its chief Khaleda Zia, is spreading rumors.”
Quader, said that Awami League’s council will be held through colourful and festive mood.
“Amendment of Party constitution and leaders will be selected through councilors’ views,” said Quader.
Awami League’s national council will be held on December 20-21 this year.
