A Chittagong court has granted a five-day fresh remand for each of three members of the banned Islamist outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in two cases lodged with Hathazari police station.
The JMB men are Chittagong University (CU) physics department students Naimur Rahman Nayan, 25, of Kurigram, Faisal Mahmud, 26, of Noakhali and Md Shawkat Rasel, 26, of Cox’s Bazar.
Inspector (Court) of Chittagong District Police Md Mashiur Rahman said Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Mosaddek Hossain Minhaz granted the remand order on Tuesday when the trio was produced before the court in two cases --- one under Arms Acts and another under Anti-terrorism Acts.
On 29 December, 2015, the CU authorities also suspended the trio from the university.
They had been arrested during a raid on December 26 in the port city.
